Weekend of creativity and treasures

I have wanted to challenge my photography skills and what better time to start than at the end of a year and the beginning of a new one!

So, I built my very first light box for under $8. My good friend and roommate, Jeanne,  saw a wood crate on the beach the other day and she thought it would be a great “box” for my project. The next day I bicycled out to the beach she mentioned and bungee’d it to my bike rack. While I was there meandering on the beach, I happened to pick up a few small perfume bottles buried in the sand that Jeanne is collecting and putting miniature shells and coral in. By the end of the day Friday, I had collected and bought the materials to build my light box. It was a success. There are improvements to be had, but it was a fun challenge.

Here are a few pictures of decor I made from the glass treasures from the beach along with the beautiful Bougainvillea from our yard inside my new light box.  It’s amazing how rewarding it is to find treasures on the beach for projects around the house or simple home decor. I can tell I am going to have a lot of fun with my new light box!
